The Borough of Naugatuck, Department of Public Works is accepting applications to develop a hiring list for the position of Driver/Laborer.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs a variety of work related to functions of a driver and/or laborer in all aspects of maintenance as assigned and/or required. Performs various manual and automated job duties including but not limited to digging, raking, traffic control, snow removal, cleaning, painting, sweeping, paving, etc. Performs work functions in a safe manner and reports safety violations to supervisor immediately. Perform other bargaining unit duties as directed, including record keeping for duties performed. Operate DPW equipment CDL and non-CDL vehicles such as, tractors, loaders, backhoe and plows. Maintains tools and equipment.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Will work under the supervision of the General Forman, Foreman, Crew Leader.
QUALIFICATIONS – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The qualified candidate must possess a High School Diploma or GED. Must possess and maintain a current State of Connecticut CDL license. Must participate in and adhere to the terms and conditions of the Drug & Alcohol Free Workplace Policy. Must be willing and capable of driving all vehicles and equipment, as required and/or instructed, in a safe and efficient manner. Must be able to receive direct oral and written instruction. Ability to work cooperatively and communicate in a concise and courteous fashion with the public, supervisors, department heads, and employees. Candidates will be subject to a written and practical examination as part of the selection process.
