Date: April 3, 2017
Subject: Annual Street Sweeping Program 2017

The Borough of Naugatuck has started their annual Spring Street Sweeping program (weather permitting) .The sweeping program was started  during the week of  March 27th, 2017. Crews have begun in the downtown area first, and then will be branching out to various other locations throughout the Borough, continuing in the Hunter’s Mtn. and Andrew Mtn. areas, as well as Rubber Ave. and Rubber Ave. Ext., and Gunntown Rd. areas.  Updated locations will be published in advance, in local media. Schools will be swept the week of April 10th, 2017. There has, and will be some sporadic sweeping at various locations prior to the start of the program  All Borough residents and merchants are encouraged to sweep their sidewalks into the gutter line in advance of sweeping crews arriving. Sand should not be swept into piles, as the sweeper cannot pick up piles. Any litter, debris or leaves should be separated and disposed of normally in the trash and/or recycling streams. After areas are publicized, residents are encouraged to get their cars off of the street to insure all streets are done to completion. With the use of straight salt during our winter plowing operations, it is expected that there will be less sand left on our roadways and catch basins, nonetheless we are still required to sweep all of our Borough streets and clean our catch basins Additional information can be found on the Borough of Naugatuck website, www.naugatuck-ct.gov.
