Downtown Celebration: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Head downtown to Church Street between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM for the main festival action. The street will be filled with the sights, sounds, and tastes of the holidays:
- Tree Lighting Ceremony: The focal point of the evening takes place at 5:30 PM, when Mayor Pete and Santa Claus join forces to flip the switch, illuminating the town tree in a breathtaking display of twinkling lights.
- Meet Santa: After the tree is lit, Santa will be available to greet children and hear their Christmas wishes. Don’t forget to bring your camera for a special photo opportunity!
- Food and Vendors: Stroll along Church Street and enjoy delicious holiday fare from a variety of restaurants and food vendors, and browse unique gifts and crafts from local vendors—perfect for checking off your shopping list.
- Hay Rides: The fun continues with festive hay rides, providing a memorable way to enjoy the holiday atmosphere.
The 19th Annual Festival of Trees & Hay Rides
The holiday cheer extends beyond Church Street! The community is also invited to visit Salem School for an additional, beloved annual event:
- Festival of Trees: From 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Salem School, the 19th Annual Festival of Trees will be open for public viewing. This tradition showcases dozens of beautifully decorated trees, wreaths, and other holiday displays donated by local groups and residents. All proceeds from the Festival benefit the United Way of Naugatuck & Beacon Falls.
With downtown festivities, the magic of the Festival of Trees, and a visit from Santa, Light the Night truly kicks off the holiday season in Naugatuck!
